About

Los Angeles-based Graphic Designer Karen Davison brings a passion for using design to address real-world issues and create positive change. A Designmatters Fellowship at the Long Beach Innovation Team allowed her to collaborate with City Hall, contributing to solutions funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies. During this time, Karen managed visual communication for the Innovation Team, the Mayor’s office, and the City Manager’s office.

Her commitment to social impact continued at The Help Group, where she served as Creative Designer for the largest US non-profit supporting children with special needs. Overseeing brand identity and user experience, she worked across print, web, and digital projects for its schools and programs.

Since 2018, Karen has worked as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator at Brand Ethos, an award-winning brand and design consulting agency helping spirited organizations describe what they do better, so they can do more. The London-based agency works with charities and funders, think tanks, social entrepreneurs, universities, and start-ups and businesses who put purpose before profit. At Brand Ethos, she has worked with clients such as Novartis, Health Education England, NHS, Solar Energy UK, Minority Rights Group, Ashgate Hospice, Charity Commission for England and Wales, ReLondon, Brunel University and Sheila McKechnie Foundation.

Karen has also worked at LA-based design consultancy, ALSO, contributing to projects for clients like Lexus, American Institute of Architects Los Angeles, Safarian Choi & Bolstad and The School of Light. Working independently, her clients include Cumulus Association, Parsons School of Design, ArtCenter College of Design and Case Western Reserve University.

Her background also encompasses editorial illustration, earning her accolades in Communication Arts Illustration Annual in 2007 and 2009. With a BFA in illustration from ArtCenter College of Design, she won clients such as The New Yorker, Fast Company, New York Magazine, The Advocate, and the Los Angeles Times Magazine, before returning to the college to pursue graphic design.
